List installed applications in Debian/Ubuntu using Terminal

To list all installed applications run:

dpkg -l

Use the grep command to only return matching results if you’re looking for a specific application:

dpkg -l | grep chrom

To remove an application, enter:

dpkg -r application or apt-get remove application
